Week 11 - Students Back at School for another term

This week the students returned from ferie.
On Friday night I went to Adrian and Sussannes home for dinner and a chat with three of the SM's and another Aussie working as in the maintenance dept. The sm's that were here on the weekend were Leo, Mario, Mariana(new from Russia) and myself. Friday night was great. We got to chill out for a bit and enjoy the night with some friends.
On Saturday, I had a bit of a lazy day. I got up around 9 and talked to mum on MSN and ate breakfast also. I didn't go to church in the morning because I had organised to go to the Cafe' church in Aarhus. All the people that went to Adrian and Sussannes home the night before also went to the cafe church. I was the only one in the group that had been there before. The others really enjoyed it. At the end of the service the past announced that he would do an english once a month. That would be really good for when the SM's go there.
One Sunday all the students arrived. I had most of the day to relax which I did. A few of the older students and the girls from the folbold team arrived early sunday morning. They did there own thing so that was great. The rest of the students started arriving after 1530. We only had half of the students up until 2130. The rest came on the school bus from Vejle.
Monday was the first day back at school and my first shift for the term. I started to be a little more strick compared to last term. During the day some of the students needed there doors opened because they gave their key to one of the other students in the school. I told them that they needed to go find their room mate or the person with their key. One of the other things I have been doing is getting the guys to be in bed at the time they are meant to be there not start going to bed at that time.
I got my bike also on monday. I got a call from the shop saying that it arrived. I had been waiting for 2 1/2 months for my bike to arrive. It was meant to arrive mid sept but it was put back to mid oct. On sunday I am thinking about going for a big ride along the fjord when I have free time.
On Tuesday we moved ekstra idraet(extra sports) indoors. The sports that the students are allowed to do are swimming, swiss ball, aerobics, Fitness/weights,and folbold. I have been put put down as a helper for folbold on tuesdays and swimming on thursdays.
On wednesday we went to Legoland. That was great fun. JEG ER SPAENDT!!!! I AM EXCITED!!! Well I was that day. It was great fun. When you walk in through the entrance you are led straight to the model area. This was the part where they had models of cities and landscapes around europe and the world. First thing we did was walk through there and have a look. After that we split up and went in small groups around the place. Mario, Leroy and I all went on the monorail to have a look at what was there. Next we met up with Leo and went up the tower and got another perspective of what was in the theme park. After that we headed to the roller coasters. They have 2 roller coaster rides there. One was a multi carriage train and the other was a 4 seater car. They were both really good. After those we went on the raft. This was fun. We all got wet on this one but it was different levels of wet. After this we went to this other ride which is a fire engine race. You have a race between 8 teams and you have to get to the other end and put out the fire then come back. Since there was 4 of us we split into 2 teams. It was Leroy and Mario vs Leo and me. Leroy and Mario won that one. After that we went to this robot ride. It is that robotic arm that you sit in. When you get to the gate you are given a card to 2 people. You get to choose what level you want to go on and what maneuvers the arm should make. After that we all met up and had lunch. After lunch we all went to the fire engine one again. We had guys vs the girls. The guys won. :P Next we all went back to the robotic arm. Then we went to the raft. This time in the raft we had 6 SM's. It was absolutely full. This was really good. We went around twice. After that we split up again and the guys went and got some survenoirs whilst the girls went on the roller coaster. We all met up in the shop. For our final ride we all went on the Canoe ride. This we had 2 groups of 4. The Canoe went around this water maze and when it got to the end it went done this big slide and made a huge splash. We went back through with all the guys in one. There was 5 of us in it. When we got to the slide we were all dripping. My shoes were soaking wet. This was the end of Legoland. When we left Billund it was around 1600. we have 1 hour to get back to the school in time for work. It was abit frustrating because all the cars in front of us were very slow. When we were driving out of Vejle we over took the bus with the students coming back from Vejle. That was good. Meant we weren't going to be late. :P
Thursday well thats today. Well it was today. No it should be yesterday since I am writing this at 0030 Friday morning. Well I went to fill in some paperwork for health card in denmark. Once I get this it means I can get free health checks. Once I got back I got my paycheck. I was excited when I received it. Since I worked at the school last week I got lots of money this pay. This will be great for when I go away this christmas. I got paid $3000dkk after getting an advance of $1500dkk on Tuesday.

First few days in Denmark

Week 10 - Efteraarsferie

Friday. All the students left to go home for ferie(holidays). I also was packing my own bag to go away. I went back to Copenhagen again for the weekend. On friday it was busy with klasse 9 doing practisk and other students attending school and also packing their bags. At pligt time my guys were busily working and trying to complete their whilst other guys were walking in and out of the dorm.
At 1600 we finally locked all the doors and the last student left.
On the weekend we had 6 SM's go to Copenhagen. We all stayed at Nat's folks place. His place would not have been big enough for all of us the go. The trip to Copenhagen was a interesting. We go on the train just to find that it was absolutely full. There was people standing in the doorway and in the aisle. It was a very long trip. It takes 2 1/2 to 3 hrs but it seemed to take 4-5 hrs having to stand all the way. When we got to Fredericia we had to change trains. at this point there were even more people on the train and we were all squashed like sardines in a sardine tin.
When we got to Copenhagen we had to try and make to next train and get tickets. We had 10mins to do this. I think we just made it. If not we got the next train. It was a rush anyway.
We finally arrived at Nat's folks place at 1930. We had a quick dinner before we got back on the train and went into the city to have a look at a festival that they had on. One of the things I liked there was crate climbing. They had two big cranes that they hooked the ropes upto that were about 20-30m high.
While in the city we went for a walk through the pedestrian street and through Radhus(City hall).
We got back at around 2300.
On saturday we got up nice and early 800, to get ready for church and Sabbath School. The guy that took ss brought up some interesting things. We all had questions that we needed to answer. After lunch we sat down and went through the bible and discussed the things from sabbath school that were puzzling us. this was great. We had to stop because it was getting late and we needed to clear our heads. We stopped at 1730. We went for a walk around a lake near by. This was great we got to watch the sunset over the lake it was sooOOO B E A U T I F U L. Check out the pics. When we got back we got some tea then we got back into studying the bible and sorting out these things that were puzzling us. We did this for most of the night. We did answer the questions though.
On sunday we went down to the harbour. Nat's farfar(granddad on fathers side), needed his boat to be towed, so Nat was going to do that then we were going to go for a cruise in the harbour. When we got to the harbour Nat pointed out the window to some land on the other side and says "That over there is Sweden." I'm just like "what its that close?"
After being in the harbour for a 30mins we find out that Nat's folks boat has a flat battery, so we couldn't do anything at all at the harbour. We ended up going into the city and show the SM's that hadn't been to Copenhagen before what was there such as the Little Mermaid, Christiania, the fortified barracks and a few more things. It was a good day.
I left everyone on Sunday afternoon to come back to the school. The SM's that were still at the school were going to go to Hamburg on sunday night for a coffee and I wanted to go with them. It was great. I never knew I could just go to Germany for a Coffee. When we got there most things were closed. We found this restuarant on a lake in the centre of Hamburg. We had some food and a drink and just chatted. We returned back very early monday morning.
Since Monday I have been burning pine trees that were cut down a month ago. The school is selling the trunks but they wanted the branches to be all burnt and any other green waste they have in the area. It has taken awhile to do this but Mario and I have gotten a fair bit of it completed. We will be still doing it next week and a few more weeks after though. The rektor(principal) wanted it all to be completed this week but its not happening.

Farvel

Week 9

Well this week started out by site seeing in Copenhagen like my previous post said. I was there with Crista and Daniel. They hadn't been to Copenhagen before. Nathaniel, a friend in Copenhagen allowed us to stay with him over the weekend. He also showed us around the place. Some of the things we looked at was Christiania, the Round Tower, Opera House, Queens Palace, Roseborg Slot, Spiral Tower, and a forest near Nats parents place.
In Copenhagen we walked everywhere. It is really good to go site seeing there because everything is reasonably close. We walked around 30km over the weekend.
On Monday we returned to the school. I wasn't keen to start work again in the afternoon. It wasn't as bad as I thought. This week has been 'Practisk' or Work Experience for the Kl. 9. Some of them are leaving at 0530 and I have to drop them off in Hedensted, 10 mins drive away. I have had to do this for the past 3 days and I do it tomorrow aswell.
When I arrived back at the school I was welcomed by a room that had been touched my the hand of a few female students. Check out the pics below. I had things like lipstick to eyelash curlers, Hairdryer to sanitary pads. I even had 7 g-strings with the names of the week on them. There was pink eveywhere.
I really liked what they did. It was better then what I thought they were going to do. I expected it to be trashed with more toilet paper and corn flakes all through my room.
This week has gone so quickly. It feels like I only just arrived back and now I will be on holidays tomorrow.

Back in Maryland

Well I arrived in Denmark yesterday at 1300 Denmark time.
The trip over was really good. The trip on the plane was all night flying.
My trip over started with a bus ride from Canberra to Sydney. I left Canberra at 900 and arrived in Sydney at 1230. Once at the airport I had to wait until 1300 before the gate was open the start booking in. Once I walked around the airport until my flight left which was 1700.
For the full length of the trip I got an exit seat. This was very handy when I needed to stretch my legs, which was pretty much the whole flight.
The first leg of my trip was to Bangkok. This flight was 8-9hrs long. We landed in Bangkok at 2330 Thai time. This flight seemed to pass really quickly. I watched a couple of movies on this flight. I had a 1 hr stop over. We were on the same plane so I could leave my gear on board and get off if I wanted to. I did so I could get some blood circulating in my legs again and I had enough with sitting down.
On the next leg it was to London. This flight was nearly 12hrs. We boarded the plane again at 0030 for the long haul. I wasn't liking this leg because it is so long. It wasn't as bad as I thought. Since the plane I was on was a Jumbo 747 I had lots of space to walk around and I had more movies/TV shows that I could watch. I did try to get some sleep on this flight but the little I did get didn't ad up to much. We landed in London at 0600 London time. I had a 4hr stop over in London. I found the sercurity not to be to bad. It was a lot better and fairly easy to get through aslong as you had 1 bag and you weren't carrying any liquids outside of the restricted amount. The only thing I had to do that was different to any of the other airoports is I was required to take of my shoes and get them scanned. Once I got through Customs I went for a walk through the ariport to find out which gate I was meant to be boarding at. I couldn't find it. At London airport they don't tell you which gate it is until 1 hour before boarding. So i ended up going to the 'quiet room' and try to sleep. Still didn't work. I was awake and alert by then.
My final leg was to Copenhagen. This flight left at 1030 London time and arrived at 1300 Denmark time. I enjoyed this one. I got to see denmark from the sky. I got some pics of it. I had the window seat so I got to enjoy the scenery, or atleast the long white cloud that covered the North Sea and half of Denmark.
When I arrived in Copenhagen I finally got my passport stamped after not getting it stamped in Copenhagen last time. At immigration they didn't ask me what I was doing they just turned to a page in my passport and stamped it and I was in. That simple.
Once I was out of the airport I caught a trian into the city then a bus onto my friends place that I am staying with. I got there at 2pm and he wasn't home but his house mates were so I dropped my gear off and took a shower. I waited at his place until 1500 because I had to meet 3 SM's at the train station to show them how to get to the same place.
Last night we all went for a walk and drive through Copenhagen my friend(Nat) took us on a little tour. When we got back from the walk I was really stuffed. I needed sleep really badly. We got back to apartment around 0000. So by the time I got sleep I had been up for 42hrs. That was way too long. I was on my computer checking my mail and I was falling asleep. It was really bad. by 0030. I had enough and crashed.
This morning I woke up at 0900 and went for a walk around the lakes in Copenhagen.

Well it has now come to the time to leave once again to Denmark. I leave Canberra at 900 and fly out of Sydney at 1700. Then I have 27-28hrs of travelling before I land in Copenhagen.

Just to let you all know whatI have been doing the last couple of days. It has been NOTHING. Well not exactly. I have packed my bags. I also packed up some of my room. Now in my room there is a few things sitting around that can get thrown into a box. But my wardrobe is now empty other then the boxs full of my stuff.

My bro's wedding

On sunday it was my bro's wedding. It was a great day. The sun was out though it was abit windy. The brides maids did find it a little cold. That was good because I was hot in the suit so I gave my suit jacket over to the maid of honour(my partner in the wedding).
On the weekend we had both relatives and the in-laws stay at my folks place. This was great because each of the familys could get to know one another. Though it did have its moments. My grandparents, aunty and cousin all arrived on friday morning. Sharees parents arrived friday evening aswell as her 2 of her friends in the bridal party. The minister that did a quick sermon also stayed at our place. On saturday sharee and brad went with sharees family to check out Floriade, a flower festival that goes for 1 month. I went to church with my mum and sis. We all met at Floriade after church for a picnic lunch. After that we had the rehearsel. That was interesting. We found out what we had to do. Practised it a few times.
On saturday night we all hang out at home and chilled out. Brad and Sharee were finalising their bags for the honeymoon. I couldn't really do much to help them. The guys watched a movie down stairs whilst I tried sleeping because I was really tired, but it was really loud and I was trying to sleep in the same room.
Sunday morning, the girls all left at 630 in the morning to go get ready, get their hair and makeup done.
I woke up as they were getting into the cars. Brad was still sleeping so he didn't see Sharee.
We got up at about 730 to organise things that had to go out to the ceremony to be setup like sound equipment. Brad left early to setup the chairs and organise a few things. I was hoping to go out with him but I needed a car to get back on monday morning. I stayed back and got ready and packed my car with the sound gear and the suits. I have never seen my car with so much stuff in it. It was chokers, but still there was somehow plenty of room for more.
Once I was packed, I finalised my speech and printed it out. Then I was off. Had to take dad into the shops to pick up his suit from the tailors, then drop him off at the car hire to pick up on of the cars. The cars were all Audi's. 2 A4's and 1 A6.
I drove out to Bungendore to the ceremony at Elmslea Homestead. When I got there I had to unpack my car and start setting up the sound system. I left that til dad arrived. He knew how he wanted it. We did everything that needed to be done and made sure it was all ready.
At 1200 Brad and a 3 of the groomsmen went into bungendore to get some food. Whilst they were there, the groomsmen saw sharee in the hairdessers shop about to leave so they told brad to stay in the shop for a few minutes whilst she got into the car to go back to the house she was getting ready at. That was a close call.
Once they got back we put the ribbon on the cars and then got into our suits.
Ten minutes before the wedding, the groomsmen and pastors had a prayer. This is when brad realised that he is really getting married. Up until then he had been all cool and relaxed but it had hit. He suddenly broke down and was crying. The nerves hit. He said it was like he was having a heartattack and couldn't breathe. This happened a few times.
The bridal party arrived on time, well I think so I wasn't to worried about the time. They started walking down the aisle. Whenit was the page boy and the flower girl turn it was interesting. The page boy didn't really know what he was doing. He is only 2. He walked straight to his mum. The flower girl also 2 walked 2 steps and dropped a handfull of flowers. When she got to the front she still had flowers in the basket she was carrying so she stood at the front and emptied the all out.
When Sharee walked down the aisle she looked amazing. Brad said that he felt like he was having a heart attack again. He was gobsmacked.

During the sermon I had to take the rings because the page boy wasn't really interested in sitting at the front holding them. The flower girl wasn't to keen to sit still either so they did their own thing.
After the ceremony the pastor got Brad and Sharee to do the wedding vows. When they put the rings on Sharee put on the wrong finger. So the pastor quickly got them to kiss to make it so that the guests didn't notice. When it came to signing brad was saying he couldn't get the ring off. It was stuck. His finger was going blue it was that tight.
Well after that everything else ran smoothly.
Brad and Sharee Nagle were introduced then we all walked out.
After it was photo time. I don't think I have smiled so much. My mouth and cheeks hurt really badly by the time it was finished.
After the photos it was time to go to the reception. This was really good. There were 101 people at the reception. They all seemed to enjoy it. all the speechs went really well. Well all of them other then mine. I lost my speech sometime during the day. I'm not sure where it got to. So mine was off the top of my head. Everyone seemed to enjoy it. I got to of the other bestmen to say something about Brad because they knew some stories that I didn't or I did but it was better for them to tell it instead of me.
The night finished at a decent hour. 2130. We had the hall all packed up by 2200.
In the morning I dropped the minister off at the bustop so he could head back home. We got the the bus station just in time. I stayed in the city to wait till the store we hired the suits from opened. I got a call from dad to mate my uncle at the airport because he had a present in the boot of his hire car. So I picked that up and talked with my uncle, whilst dad came in to drop off his hire car.
Once that was all done I finally dropped off the suits and then went home.
Now I am getting ready to pack my bags for the trip back to Denmark. I leave Australia on Thursday for a lovely long flight. I will arrive in Copenhagen on Friday and will be there for the weekend and head back to the school on Sunday or Monday.
